Connecting your NMI account with Elective is quick-and-easy. This is a step-by-step guide for finding and creating NMI security keys to connect your account with Elective.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Connect Your API Key

  1. Access Your NMI Dashboard: Log in to your NMI account by clicking "Sign In" and selecting "NMI Merchant Login".


  2. Find Your Security Keys: Under "My Settings" in the top-right corner of your dashboard, click on "Security Keys".


  3. Create a Private Security Key: Under "Private Security Keys", click "Add a New Security Key".


  4. Configure Your Security Key: Choose a name for your API key. We recommend "Elective". Then, select the username of the account you want to use, check the "API" checkbox, and then click "Create".


  5. Copy Your API Key: Copy the API key. We'll be using this on the Elective application.and use this when setting up your NMI payment processor integration in your Elective app settings.


  6. Go to the NMI Integration on Elective: You can find this by going to your "Settings", then clicking "Integrations", then clicking "Connect" next to NMI.
  7. Paste in your API Key: Paste the API key into the form.
  8. Done! You'll may see the connection status as "Validating". Please refresh the page in a few minutes. Once you see "Connected", you're ready to go!

 

(Optional) Connect Keys to Enable Payer Authentication 2.0

  1. Create a Public Security Key: On the same page, under "Public Security Keys", click "Add a New Security Key"
  2. Configure a Tokenization Key: Choose a name for your Tokenization key. We recommend "Elective Tokenization". Then, use the same username you used when configuring your API key, and select "Tokenization" for the key permission and click "Create".
  3. Configure a Collect Checkout Key: Choose a name for your Collect Checkout key. We recommend "Elective Checkout". Then, use the same username you used when configuring your API key, and select "Checkout" for the key permission and click "Create".
  4. Use Your Tokenization and Collect Checkout Keys: Copy the two keys and paste them back in your NMI setup form.
  5. Done! You'll may see the connection status as "Validating". Please refresh the page in a few minutes. Once you see "Connected", you're ready to go!
